Children's Dentistry

Back

Family dentists can assist patients of all ages, including children, but you may want to research children's dentistry to ensure that your child receives the proper treatment. This speciality treats minors from infancy to adolescence, administering anaesthetic dentistry when necessary. At Monarch Dentistry in Mississauga, we strive to provide your children with excellent care while fostering a positive rapport with them, so that they continue to return as they age.

Infant Teeth

Between six and twelve months, the primary teeth, also known as "baby" teeth, begin to erupt. Children should visit the dentist for the first time no later than six months after their first tooth erupts, or by the age of one. The infant teeth will continue to erupt until approximately age three. Primary teeth will begin to fall out around age 6 and will be replaced by permanent teeth.

Excellent Dental Practices

You should supervise your infant while they brush their teeth until you are confident that they can do it without toothpaste. Fluoride is not beneficial for children's teeth unless prescribed by a doctor. Every six months, you should schedule an appointment with your dentist to have your teeth cleansed and examined. If you live in Mississauga and want your children to receive quality dental care, visit us at Monarch Dentistry.
