Wisdom Teeth Extraction

Back

The notion of having your wisdom teeth removed might be frightening, but it does not have to be.  Monarch Dentistry in Cambridge may do this surgery.  Before tooth extraction, a thorough examination will be performed to confirm that the wisdom tooth infection is not the source of your problems.  If it's an infection, you'll be given medicine and advised to return after you've recovered.  When you visit Monarch Dentistry, you will get a local anesthetic to numb the area around your wisdom teeth.  To remove a tooth, dentists numb the area first, then cut the gums surrounding it and extract it from the bone.

Some individuals may need stitches to avoid excessive bleeding after surgery.  We will place some gauze in the gap between your gums and urge you to gently bite down so that the gauze may absorb the blood.  Within 24 hours, you should notice a progressive reduction of bleeding.

According to Monarch Dentistry, using an ice pack every ten to fifteen minutes may help reduce swelling.  A warm towel or other moist heat source may help relieve pain.  Gargle with salt water for the first twenty-four hours following treatment to relieve pain.  The good news is that mouths usually heal fast after dental treatment.  You should be pain-free and comfortable within a few days after having your wisdom teeth removed.
