Crowns & Caps

During your initial appointment, your Cambridge dentist will analyze the severity of your dental troubles as well as the tooth's potential to support a crown.  If a crown can be securely fitted to the tooth, it will be filed down.

We may offer a temporary crown after filing the tooth.  A permanent crown will be made from an impression of your teeth.  The temporary crown is an excellent option for protecting the tooth while you adjust to the feel of your new crown.  The crown will be put during your follow-up appointment after it has been completed.

After the temporary crown is removed and replaced, the permanent crown will be fitted to the tooth and mouth to ensure it fits perfectly.  Before installing the crown, your dentist will check it and make any necessary modifications.  Gluing it to the tooth secures it in place and prevents it from loosening or falling off.  Your crown may seem strange at first, but with time, it will fit in flawlessly with your natural teeth.

According to the advice of our staff, a dental crown may be used to accomplish any of the following objectives: restoring the beauty and functioning of teeth, replacing obsolete or deteriorating fillings, protecting teeth from fractures and breaks, affixing partials and bridges to teeth, and concealing dental implants once they have been installed are all services that are offered by Monarch Dentistry in Cambridge.
