Amalgam Free Fillings

Back

If you look inside an old person's mouth, you could discover a lot of metal.  This is a standard process for amalgam fillings.  This metallic solution is suitable for filling dental fissures and cavities.  This is clearly not how a tooth should be.  In the past, amalgam fillings were popular because they were easy to administer and enabled the dentist to convince the patient that the restoration would remain.  These days, you may get fillings that do not need amalgam but yet provide all of the advantages.

Composite resin fillings are sometimes known as amalgam-free fillings.  This kind of filling, like amalgam fillings, enables the dentist to effectively fuse the tooth parts together, maintaining the tooth's structural integrity.  Composite fillings give all of the advantages of amalgam fillings while eliminating the continual self-consciousness that comes with them.  Amalgam-free fillings are preferable over amalgam fillings because they vanish when you smile or laugh.

Fillings are required for persons with cavities.  If you have cavities in your teeth, this is only the start of your difficulties.  The enamel has worn away in some areas, and the tooth is breaking apart.  If the cavity exposes the nerve root to the outer world, there may be further difficulties.  The amalgam-free filling seals the cavity and restores the tooth's strength, enabling it to function properly once more.
